Welcome to Confidently-IN on Indy Now

We somehow pulled it off...

In all of my years in television, I've never seen a nearly 10 minute segment that wasn't a feature or mini-documentary. This is rare, friends. But I love that the Indy Now team saw the need from our community and jumped at the opportunity for our Confidently-IN segment, when I brought the idea to the table.

Every woman was not gifted with a woman in her life that could show her how to do her makeup. I have heard so many of your stories, and I want you to know you are not alone.

In the decades of training makeup, many women have shared stories.

"My mom was working 2 jobs to feed the 4 of us as a single mother, so there wasn't really any time to learn makeup. I've always wanted to learn, but I feel like it's just too complicated when I watch YouTube videos."

"I grew up in a physically abusive home. We didn't really talk about makeup. But now I need to learn something simple that I can do to feel better when I'm promoting my business."

"No one in my family wore makeup, but I always dreamed of what it would be like to know how to do it!"

I want to be honest with you. I am not an advocate for wearing makeup every day, but I am an advocate for providing tools to help women live confidently.

Anytime we feel like we are lacking in an area that "everyone else seems to know," we have the opportunity to feel guilt and shame, regardless of the topic.

I want you to know, that no matter why you are here.

You Are Strong. You Are Beautiful. You Are Worthy.

Here you will find the links to the LIVE, segment for a great holiday makeup application. I've also included the products that were used during the segment, along with some pro tips for you!

This look was created to be non-intimidating, and easy to accomplish. Feel free to bookmark this page and come back to it while you are honing your skill set.

As for me... I am still sitting here, trying to figure out how we got everything on live TV, with a miniature pony distracting us 😂 Pics below.

The pace of the holiday season is already upon us...

Or maybe this is just the new pace of life? Either way, with all of the Black Friday specials starting this week, I’d say things are moving along pretty quickly. With all of the hustle and bustle, how can we find time to look incredible for all of the shows and parties that we get to opportunity to enjoy again this year?  That’s why I am here with a solid 10 minute beauty routine to get you ready for all of your holiday events.

First things first, makeup alone, is not a beauty routine. A beauty routine includes the items that you use daily to achieve your desired optimal beauty results. I can not stop recommending Olay’s new Regenerist Vitamin C+ Peptide 24 Hydrating Moisturizer. The proprietary technology in this formula leaves you with 2 times brighter skin vs. a basic moisturizer in just 28 days, by correcting the look of uneven skin tone. Beautiful skin equals less makeup for your holiday beauty routine! Plus, you get a holiday steal for a deal with a Twice and Bright Cyber Monday Deal. When you spend $150 on Olay.com, you receive a Juicy Couture custom tracksuit made exclusively for Olay’s new Vitamin C + Peptide 24 collection launch!  This is the same tracksuit that Summer is wearing in the photo, and it says "Face Anything" on the front 💛💛. Totally picking up a few of these for friends this year! So shop Olay.com or check your local retailer for curbside pick up.

It's all about that base...

Now that we’ve got skin care handled let’s create the foundational base for your holiday look. This is a television #PROTIP We want to start by brightening your eyes with a little concealer.

Concealer needs to go under foundation for camera-work… this includes looking great in family pics! I like to use the HD Concealer by Make Up For Ever, because the texture and consistency really sheers out and blends well with the foundation. Always use a shade or two lighter than your skin tone for optimal brightness, without too much differentiation.

Then we will use one of my favorite foundations, Reboot, also from Make Up For Ever, because it actually helps show off your natural contour without adding 5-10 minutes to your routine! Work smarter, by using products that achieve more than one result!

Then we set with translucent powder to complete the foundation! The Make Up Forever products can be purchased at your local Sephora.

It's all about that glow...

But let't chat about brushes for just a minute, because we had a ton of questions about this particular set.You don't need a ton of brushes, but having a nice go-to set is really important. I chose the Sephora Gift Set of brushes when I was in store picking up items for this segment. I chose it, because it is a great starter set, for those learning to do their makeup. No fuss, no extra stuff that you don't really need. No intimidation. And look at those beautiful sparkly handles!

The palette I am using for both contour and the simple eye shadow look is the Madison Beers Channel Surfing Palette by Morphe and can be purchased at your local Ulta or at www.ulta.com

This is actually a warm eye shadow palette. When you choose a warm eyeshadow palette, you get the benefit of having the appropriate shades to contour your entire face.

Start with a nice blushing brush and choose which shade you would like to use for color. Swipe in an upward motion from the apples of your cheeks to your temples.

Just be careful to avoid the eye area, we don't want to cover up the highlighting that we did around the eye area.

Then choose one of the gold-tone shimmer shades to pop the highlight of your contour by swiping it in the same motion, with the same brush at the top of your blush line.

World-famous mascara tip loading...

Using the same makeup palette. Start with a matte shade in the crease corner and go to about 3/4 of the way into your crease, and line your lower lash line with the crease color about 1/4 of the way in. Make sure to watch the video for the proper brush and technique!

Then we will use a warm little sparkle for the lid and to complete the lower lash line, to create a full eye shelf, which is great for photos.

Then choose a matte shade for blending your crease shade and highlighting your brow. I want you thinking about how the windshield wipers on your car work back and forth as you are blending this out for a nice fused gradient of color.

Next, use one of your darker shades from the palette to line the full upper lash line, and touch the extra product to your outer lower lash line.

Last, we are going to finish off with Mascara, but we are going to bend the rules a little bit to get this routine done in 10 minutes.  This is by far, my favorite beauty tip. Bend your mascara wand.  Once you try this, you won’t go back.
