As our lifestyles are changing almost daily, we wanted to make sure that we are serving you in this current time.  We have had so many requests about how to make a mask using what we have at home.  It is important to note that these options are not a viable solution to the N95 masks that our medical community is in desperate need of.  These options are a simple DIY solution for cloth face coverings as lined out by the CDC.  Please use the provided link to see the most up to date information from the CDC.  As updates are made, we will do our best to keep you informed.

It is best to stay home right now, but should you need to go to the grocery store, or the pharmacy, you need to be wearing a mask or other protective face covering.

Let’s take a look at what we found at home that meets today’s guidelines.

  1. The Tee Shirt Face Covering:

For this example, we used a toddler-sized tee shirt that was in her daughter’s donation pile.  Once you lay the tee shirt flat, fold the fabric from the base of the body upwards towards the neckline.  Once it is folded, you may use the arms as ties and to adjust how taught the fabric plus around your face.

  2. The Tea Towel Face Covering:

For this example, we chose a lightweight kitchen towel.  When laid flat, pick up the opposite corners of the tea towel and pull the towel body flat.  Use the two corners to tie at the back of your head.  The bottom part of the towel can then be tucked into your top for an added guard.

  3. The Scarf Face Covering:

For this example, we used a standard-sized scarf.  Lay the scarf flat.  Then fold the scarf over lengthwise twice.  You will place your nose and mouth area in the center of this scarf.  Then use the long ends of the scarf to wrap behind your head to come out on the front side of your shoulders. Pull snuggly.
